The original goal of the project started in 1995 was to publish a CD-ROM-series, but in the meantime the project scope was extended, and recently among the most important goals we can find an unified, integrated database baesd on intranet of Film Institute, a new DVD-release of the complete CD-ROM-series, and finaly an online database of the Hungarian Film History.
The 6 parts of the CD-ROM-series present the history the Hungarian feature films and documentary films separated into 3-3 periods. The works of the data collection, of the data manipulation, and of the database building were based on a database server available only on the intranet of The Film Institute. The center of the whole system is the film database (because film is the most important document type), but the other document types have their own database as well. There are "independent" databases and content management systems for the still images, sounds, articles, periodics, books. All database segments are supported by some common unified databases (for people, corporates, locations, events, and metainformation-like terms). Moving Picture Gallery Online was finished. The application and the database was transferred to the server of IIF. The service is not available from 2000.
